Scenic Rail Britain

SRB-blue-URLScenic Rail Britain is a campaign launched by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) in partnership with Abellio and Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership. It’s based around a website, www.scenicrailbritain.com, packed with advice for anyone planning a trip, and we’ll be continuing to put out ideas and tips on social media, a blog, and through events.

Scenic Rail Britain aims to help domestic and foreign tourists access some of the country’s hidden gems, while travelling sustainably and avoiding the stresses of driving. At ACoRP, by supporting our members, we see the lovely sights that community railways have to offer every day. We want to share that with more people, and promote these amazing railway lines, which form such an important part of our heritage.

The Scenic Rail Britain website includes lots of practical information, on things like advance tickets and railcards, to help people explore the country by rail easily and affordably. It also includes sample itineraries, a map of community railway lines, and organises the lines by region and theme, to help potential visitors get ideas and plan amazing trips.

There is also another important message behind the campaign, that being train travel has its environmental benefits. Many beautiful parts of the UK suffer traffic and pollution problems. Travelling by car adds to this, as well as meaning that you risk spending your trip stuck in jams and feeling stressed. By getting around by train, you reduce your carbon footprint, and can sit back and relax.
