The Heart of Wales Line Development Company were very pleased to host the Llanelli MP Nia Griffith to the official opening of their new office at Llanelli Station’s Hub on Friday. The office has been given over to the development company by Arriva Trains Wales and the plan for 2017 is for it to become a base for the Heart of Wales Line Holidays – a collaboration with award winning travel company Rural Concierge.
MP Nia Griffith cut the ribbon in front of representatives from Arriva Train Wales, The Heart of Wales Line DevCo and members of the Heart of Wales Line Travellers Association as well as the Friends of Llanelli Station. Ms Griffith said in a speech that she would be taking back the message to the Welsh Assembly that the line was very important for the economic development of the area and that it was important to link in with the Swansea City BID to become part of a broader development picture.
Ms Griffith then spoke to the Black Mountain Food Hub who have recently started using the new hub at Llandeilo Station to further develop their organic vegetable box distribution and took their first delivery of vegetables by train last week.
The Heart of Wales Line Holidays are designed to encourage both local residents and visitors to the area to explore more of the beautiful countryside and bustling market towns along the 120 miles of line from Swansea to Shrewsbury.
