John Yellowlees headed back to Pitlochry station to open a room dedicated to him at the station’s bookshop. a most enjoyable morning was had by all who attended, as John cut the ribbon on the Highland Mainline CRP sponsored room.

The Station Bookshop has now taken over £40,000 in the few months since the refurbishment over Christmas, an amazing achievement in such a short time. Without John’s enormous contribution to our station adopters, station liaison group and the formation of the Highland Mainline Community Rail Partnership we would not be it is today.

In additional news, the upgrading and decorating of the Platform One Waiting Room by Serco is now complete, and what an improvement! No longer dirty carpet and stained ceiling to look at.

A floral arrangement has also been added to the station from the local Floral Art Club, in the Pitlochry Tartan colours, and recently all the posters on the railings were refreshed, designed by two local secondary pupils for the line’s 150th anniversary. German tourists have shown much interest in purchasing the old posters, so maybe a postcard project for the future?
